Lighting Rig for Deserted

Here is a link to download the lighting rig I'm using.  Just import the file into your scene.  You'll likely have to move things around a bit (Eye light for sure, and probably the Fill light too) and you may need to adjust the settings, but this should serve as a good base.  Make sure to go into the light linking menu after you import and make sure the Ground Light is only linked to smooth.  Also remember to use the fix for the eyelid reflections that Chris mentioned in his post.

Regardless of whether we are using this method to light or the physical sun and sky, we should post up renders of our scenes lit to make sure there are no obvious continuity errors, especially on all of your shots since they are of the same person.  It would suck if someone had to re-render their entire scene just because of something as simple as that.  Oh, and here's the revised background

  1. Thanks Nic and Chris for trying so hard to figuring out on this lighting scene.

I have a stupid question to ask. How do you do light linking menu properly? I found the linking thing but I wasn't sure how the steps to link it right. Can someone breakdown step by step for me? Thank you!!

  2. Switch the menu to the "Rendering" menu. Click Lighting/Shading, Light Linking Editor, Light-Centric. In the left window, select the Ground light. All the objects in the right window should be highlighted by default. De-highlight all of them except the one labeled smooth. That way only the ground will be affected by the Groundlight.
