So I've been working with the lighting of the desert scene here's what I've got so far. I used a warm directional light for the sun, intensity 1.00 and a cool area light scaled up to Scale X: 11.875, Scale Y: 6.838, Scale Z: 6.838, Intensity: 0.020 as the fill, representing the bounce light. Then I added a light linked light to brighten the background, and a small spotlight to brighten the eyes. I'm still working on trying to get rid of the odd highlight on the eyelids and the weird shadow under the mouth. I'll try changing the position/settings of the sun and see how that works.
Here's the background I used.
Comments? Thoughts?
Looks great to me. I found out how to lower the intensity of the physical sky and sun.

at the end of the video he shows how. But I still get a really wired reflection in the eyes like you said and I'm not sure how to fix this :/ I'll post up a pic of what I have so far with the lighting but I like you're lighting much better....would you be able to make a file we could import with lights and position like we did with Agnes? Also that high light might be the eye it's self poking through the lids.... just a thought, maybe try pushing it back and rendering it out to see if it fixes it
I think think this is looking good and I like it, only thing is the sky color is a little too saturated try desalinating it slightly I think it will work.
ReplyDeleteI'll try the reflection fix you mentioned and adjust the bg and put up pics of the result. And I believe I could export a lighting rig for everyone to use if we decide to go this route rather than the maya sun and sky option.
