Old Woman Overview

Heres the character overview/bio that we talked about in class on Thursday.  I'll put a link to this post on the resources page so you can quickly refer back to it if you need to.  If I got anything wrong or you have an idea for an alteration, comment on it and I'll edit the changes in.  One last thing though, we need a name for our woman.  Any suggestions?

Character Bio

The woman has a bit of a persecution complex.  She thinks everybody is turning on her or letting her down.  She thinks everybody hates her.  Truthfully, people do have a tendency to hate this woman, and while this certainly played some part in forming the bitter angry woman everyone wants to avoid now, the fact is they hated her for good reason.  She has always been angry and has always attacked people and sniped at their every weakness.  When they attack her back or leave her, she uses that as an excuse to become even angrier and meaner.

She has a certain feeling of superiority to others.  The man she married she felt was a constant failure and dissapointment.  Not worthy of her.  She eroded his will with constant insults.  She emphasized every single mistake he made, and ignored or diminished every thing he did right.  Eventually he took his own life, further proof to her that he was the pathetic weak man she always told him he was.

Before his death he gave her a son though.  In the woman's eyes, the child was all too much like his father.  She was tyrannical in his upbringing, and anytime he showed any individuality it was seen as a failure by his mother.  The biggest dissapointment for her was his eventual wife though.  He married a rich woman who his mother despised.  Not only did she hate the woman personally, she hated the fact that her son was supported by his wife's money instead of him working for a living.  To add insult to injury, after years of drinking, a liver problem caused by a lifetime of drinking hit her hard and she could no longer live on her own anymore.  She had no choice but to live with the woman she hated and the son she wished she could forget.  Furthermore, they now had a child.  A child she hates because she knows that it will end up just like all the other men in the family.  At night when she's had a few drinks, she sometimes wanders over to the baby's crib and angrily rants at it.

Though older, she still has a fair degree of mobility.  Her center is her shoulder/neck area, she's always tensing up there as if the entire world is a pain in her neck.  When she isn't sober she often sways a little bit, gesturing with and swooping her drink around.
